Great Eastern Run

On Sunday 8 October 2017, a team of teachers, students and parents took on the huge undertaking of running the Great Eastern Run, a half marathon around Peterborough, with the aim of raising money towards keeping the after-school bus service running. This Bus enables many clubs, revision activities and other after-school events to happen. Without it, students at AMVC will not have nearly as many opportunities.

Many of the team had not run this distance before, and training began many months ago. Under the watchful eye of English Athletics coach Yvonne Goodsell, who volunteered to train the team, our team gradually grew in size.

Those that eventually took part in the event were:
  • AMVC Staff: Jonathan Oakley (Deputy Headteacher), Nathan Steele (Associate Assistant Headteacher), Kate Lewis (Head of English and SMT) Tessa Hammond (Head of Performing Arts), Jamie Moffat (Teacher of PE) John Treacy (Teacher of Maths) Sophie Wells (Teacher of Science) Paulus Maukonen (Teacher of Geography) Luke Roberts (Teacher of Music)
  • Parents:  John Gilligan (Father of Sam and Bethan, and Headteacher of Hampton College), Tracy Rookyard (Mother of Caitlin) Keila Hickton Jarvis (Mother of Zachary and Nathaniel) and Nicky Stockell (Mother of Oliver)
  • Students:  Keziah Hammond and Darius Cham.
So far, we have raised £625, and that total is still rising. YOU can still donate using the link below…
