Arthur Mellows announces a Royal visitor

Royal VisitOn Thursday 8 July 2010, Her Royal Highness, The Countess of Wessex has graciously agreed to perform the official opening of the new facilities at Arthur Mellows Village College.

As part of her visit, she will be taken on a guided tour of the new facilities which include a new building housing the Science and ICT departments, as well as an auditorium and refectory. Her Royal Highness will visit Science and ICT lessons and will meet students who are involved in the highly successful Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, of which her husband, Prince Edward, is patron. The tour will also include presentations from Design Technology and Performing Arts students, as well as visiting the remodelled Special Educational Needs faculty.

The tour will culminate in an official opening ceremony in which Her Royal Highness will unveil a plaque to commemorate her visit and the official opening of the new facilities.

Head of College, Mike Sandeman, commented: “It is an enormous privilege to have such an important guest, and we look forward to making her visit as enjoyable as we can.”
