Senior Laboratory Technician

Arthur Mellows Village College is a vibrant, over subscribed comprehensive College, situated in Glinton near Peterborough.  Student outcomes are paramount to the success of the College and it is recognised that support staff play an essential role.  We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Science Department.
 
Term Time plus 10 days 
8.00 am to 4.00 pm 
37 hours per week 
Grade 6 Point 7
Actual Salary £17,099 
 
The College requires a candidate with an excellent understanding of General Sciences up to A Level to support the Science Department.  Main tasks will include supervising the team of Science Technicians and co-ordinating the preparation of practical equipment, apparatus and resources for teachers within the Science Department.  This role complements the work of Science teachers by delivering agreed resources and providing technical and learning assistance in the classroom.
 
Responsibilities will include ensuring equipment and materials are maintained in good order and in a safe condition. Stock check, with adequate levels of materials and equipment available for use by teachers and students. Completion of purchase orders under the direction of the Head of Science.  Keeping stores well organised and hazardous substances labelled.
 
The successful candidate must have the ability to work methodically, paying attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to support staff and students in the Science Department.
